Here at Voluntary Action East Lindsey we offer FREE training courses across the district to individuals and voluntary community organisations.

Food Hygiene & Food Safety

9.30am to 3.30pm

 

Food Hygiene courses cover all aspects of the Food Hygiene Act 1990.  It includes the legal obligations and penalties which are placed on employers and employees, the importance of HACCP, personal hygiene, food poisoning, stock control, food storage, pests and pets etc, and is designed for any person who handles food as part of their job.

 

Candidates receive a certificate in Food Safety

Health & Safety

9.30am to 3.30pm

 

This course covers all of the different aspects of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 that is required by law in order for employers and employees to carry out their job in a safe and competent manner.

 

Candidates receive a Health and Safety certificate.

First Aid

The Health & Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981 places a responsibility on employers to provide adequate cover for first aid at work regardless of the number of employees.

 

This First Aid course is designed to provide the basic knowledge and understanding of first aid.

 

There is a practical element to this course.

 

Candidates receive a certificate.

Effective Chairing of Community Groups

9.30am to 3.30pm

 

The aims of this course are to: -

  • give participants an opportunity to consider how to chair meetings for their particular organisation.
  • give an overview of the roles and responsibilities of officers within an organisation.
  • give participants the opportunity to consider what makes good practice within meetings.

First Aid for an Appointed Person

9.30am to 3.30pm

The Appointed Person First Aid course is designed to give the individual person the basic knowledge of first aid and the confidence in order to be able to take charge of a medical situation at work or in the home.

 

There is a practical element to this course.

 

Candidates receive an Appointed Person certificate.

Presentation skills will enable participants to be more comfortable and confident about speaking in public.  The course will look at, speaking in public, what makes a good speaker, the structure of presentation, developing a personal way of presenting.

This course will enable candidates to look at

  • what is confidence?
  • recognise confidence in others
  • identify self-limiting beliefs
  • developing a positive attitude
  • the actions to take to being more confident
  • the steps to a more confident you
